As someone who loves murder mysteries I often find myself wishing for more representation within the books I pick up. Having two women as the main couple and the focus of this story shows something that is rare for the mystery genre. While there are often romances the cozy and even thriller realms focus primarily on straight pairings. Mack has not only written a thrilling book, but she has presented two women who are strong and powerful in their field. This is not a book for the faint of heart either, there is definite gore, but not in an inappropriate way. The balance between crime and romance is well balanced and I would recommend this to any mystery lover."

"​Intense and compelling, Nightsticks and Negligees marks Lucinda Mack’s debut in the LGBT fiction genre and it proves to be a nail-biting page-turner from beginning to end. Taking a tried and tested formula allied to an original narrative style, Mack delivers an enticing plot that keeps its intrigue throughout whilst maintaining a calculated balance between suspense and transparency which armchair detectives will certainly appreciate.

When writing in a genre as popular as this an author has to be careful not to retread the ground of previous bestsellers to come up with something original. Crime and police procedurals require a twisted logic whilst LGBT fiction is about character and Mack captures the requisite elements of both. Delivering an authentic air whilst almost absent dialogue between her characters really gets us into the mind of Lexi as her relationship with Katia goes from colleagues and first kiss to take on the weight of something far more significant.

With both characters imbued with the depth and characteristics of their roles, they are immediately engaging whilst the ever-present threat of danger pervading their lives is sure to keep readers on tenterhooks to the final pages.

A confident and assured debut which bodes well for future releases from Lucinda Mack, Nightsticks and Negligees is definitely recommended. Especially to fans of the LGBT and crime genres."
